CAnCELEd scrolls on 2017 and newer electronic control GE washers when a cycle was paused too long or stopped itself. A 4 minute lockout follows.
Model compatibility: GE reuses codes across series and model years, so CAnCELEd may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
CAnCELEd means the cycle was canceled after a long pause or an automatic stop, followed by a 4 minute lockout.
CAnCELEd may scroll across the display of a GE washer. The listing covers 2017 and newer electronic control washers, and the message can vary by model.
Why it appears
Two situations trigger it. The washer was paused for longer than 24 hours, or it stopped itself before the cycle finished because of certain errors.
The 4 minute lockout
As soon as the message starts to scroll, the washer locks its controls for 4 minutes and will not respond to changes. When that time is over you can begin a cycle again. Unplugging the washer to skip the wait does not help, because the 4 minute timer starts over.
If it keeps happening
A problem that persists is a reason to contact service. Your Owner’s Manual lists the messages for your specific washer model.
